The restaurant- La Marina, used to be a simple beach house that only catered to the family and friends of Luis R. Alvarez and Merceditas Borromeo-Alvarez, the founders of this tropical resort. The family would make special memories in their tropical beach house as they gather up on Sundays to enjoy the pristine white beach and relax looking at the horizon where the blue sea meets the bluer sky.

As time passed by, the Alvarez family turned their beach house into Costabella Tropical Beach Resort to serve as a day tour beach option for their guests in Montebello, as they are also part of the founding group of Montebello Villa Hotel located in Cebu City. This led them to make it into 16 family rooms.
