The Consulate-General of Japan in Cebu is looking for one local staff member to assist with general administrative work, consular support, and security duties.

Job Description:

Employment Type

One full-time staff member (with a six-month probationary period)

Expected start of employment: around March to April 2026

Job Title

Qualifications

  1. JLPT N1 or N2 level in Japanese.
  2. Ability to perform work in English and Cebuano or Tagalog.

  3. University graduate or possess an equivalent or higher level of education.

  4. For non-Filipino nationals: must have permanent residency in the Philippines and be legally authorized to work in the country.

  5. Proficient in using Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and other similar applications.

Job Responsibilities

General consular work including passports, certificates, visas, family register and nationality matters, residence registration, overseas elections, and assistance to Japanese nationals, as well as handling consular service counters, telephone inquiries, and email correspondence.

Salary and Benefits

  • Salary will be determined based on experience and qualifications.
  • 15 days of annual paid leave will be granted per year. In addition, 7 days of sick leave will be provided annually.

  • Note: During the six-month probationary period, none of the above leave entitlements will be granted.

Working hours

Monday to Friday (excluding the Consulate’s official holidays) from 8:30 AM to 5:15 PM
Lunch break: 12:30 PM to 1:30 PM
Note: You may be required to work on holidays or perform overtime when necessary.

 Initial Screening (Application/Documents Review)
  Notification of Results: Only candidates who pass the first screening will be contacted regarding the date and time of the interview. 
Interview

  • For applicants whose native language is not Japanese, a Japanese language proficiency test may be conducted, as a high level of Japanese is required for the job.
  • If the Consulate repeatedly attempts to contact the applicant by phone and cannot reach them or they do not respond, the application may be disqualified.
  • Additionally, application documents will not be returned, regardless of whether the applicant is successful or not.
