Let's go to Cebu's Abaca Baking Company half price sale!
Get delicious bread at a great deal at the popular Abaca baking company (Abaca group) in Cebu!
Cebu has many tourists and immigrants from overseas, so there are many stylish cafes such as cozy Western-style cafes, modern and stylish cafes, and Korean-style cafes. Among them, the popular cafe Abaca Baking Company developed by the famous Abaca group in Cebu is a stylish and comfortable space with high quality of service and food. It has a bakery and cafe concept that is very popular with tourists.
In addition, Abaca Group is currently closing the resort hotel “Abaca Boutique resort” on Mactan Island, but in 2024, they are planning to open a large hotel with all suite rooms that will be iconic and have a rooftop bar and a private beach where you can enjoy the picturesque scenery. This time, we would like to introduce the Abaca Group's Abaca Bakery limited-time “Bake Sale" where you can purchase bread and baked sweets at a great price. Their sale is gaining attention! Be sure to drop by now!
In fact, Abaca Bakery holds a half-price sale on bread and cakes every day one hour before each store closes. The pre-closing discount sale, which is rarely seen in Cebu, seems to be popular among abaca fans, and before closing, customers sometimes line up in front of the store for the sale. As the name "Abaca Bakery" suggests, the bread is very delicious and each one is voluminous. It's perfect for breakfast and brunch for the next day, so please check it out if the timing is right.
The Bake sale I went to this time was in a store in a commercial facility called Crossroads. This Crossroad store is more relaxed than the Abaca Bakery in the shopping mall, and there are arts displayed in the store, so you can feel the atmosphere of visiting a solo exhibition, which is my favorite place. The price of bread at Abaca Bakery is usually around 130 pesos to 200 pesos per piece. The type may differ depending on the day, but on this day, even though it was before closing, when I entered the store, there was a row of vans lined up.
The croissant is one of Abaca Bakery's top picks, but I recommend the "Cheese Danish" ! This Danish bread is one of the products that are always lined up, probably as popular as the croissant. The slightly sweet cheese cream goes well with the crispy dough. The sweetness and size are just right, and if you warm it up a little in the toaster, the cream will melt just right and it will be even more delicious, so please give it a try. (*Sale items cannot be eaten inside the store.) Depending on the store, there is also a Danish bread with different toppings such as fruit and cream called "Daily Danish".
The next recommendation is “traditional meat pie”! This is a pie crust filled with meat seasoned with tomato sauce, perfect for brunch or light lunch. I have the impression that many of Abaca Bakery's breads are relatively sweet, but this is one of the breads that I often order when I'm hungry and take a break. A well-seasoned side dish bread that goes well with alcohol drinks. Large hard breads that go well with wine and cheese are also on sale. It is in a different place than the showcase, so if you like it, please check it out.
The “apple bearclaw” , which is easy for children to eat, is big and great value! The apple pie Danish, which is familiar even in Japanese bakeries, has a thick apple filling inside and has a crisp texture of the pulp, and is a stable deliciousness. Compared to the apple pie Danish you see in Japan, it's about twice the size, so it's great to eat! It is also recommended to cut it into sticks and eat it as a snack with everyone. You can also freeze it, so it's a must-buy item.
Last but not least, “Lamintong”. This is something I have been wondering about every time I visit, but this is the first time I have purchased it. It looks like a black square bread or a dessert. Because of its impact, Lamington catches your eye every time you look into the showcase. Such a cute name too. And since it has coconut flakes around it, I thought it was definitely a traditional Filipino dessert, but when I looked it up, it turned out to be a dessert that originated in Queensland, Australia! A sponge cake cut into squares, sandwiched with cream and sprinkled with dried coconut. The chocolate sponge dough is softer than I expected, and the vanilla cream and coconut go well together! It was a lamington with a nostalgic taste.
The breads and desserts introduced this time are just a few, but there are always about 15 types of breads lined up in the showcase, as well as hard breads and cakes. You can purchase the bread at half price during the bake sale, so it is recommended to purchase the bread that you would like to try once. I bought 4 this time and it is usually 500 pesos, but it was 250 pesos, half the price! ! Abaca Bakery currently has 9 branches in Cebu. Please note that sales are held daily at each store and are subject to change without notice.
